We have all heard of the Big Bang Theory. No, I am not talking about the stupid immoral television show. Wikipedia shows this:

“The Big Bang theory is the prevailing cosmological model for the early development of the universe. The key idea is that the universe is expanding. Consequently, the universe was denser and hotter in the past. In particular, the Big Bang model suggests that at some moment all matter in the universe was contained in a single point, which is considered the beginning of the universe. …Georges Lemaître first proposed what became the Big Bang theory in 1927.”

big bang theory

There is very little of man’s theories that I buy into as most don’t line up with scripture. However, the Big Bang Theory does line up with scripture … sort of! The single point where it all started is none other than God. Scripture tells us that He spoke everything into existence.

“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” Hebrews 11:3

“For He spoke, and it came into being; He commanded, and it came into existence. ” Psalm 33:9 Holman Christian Standard Bible

“The LORD merely spoke, and the heavens were created. He breathed the word, and all the stars were born.” Psalm 33:6 NLT

“Let them praise the Name of the LORD, for at His command they were created”  Psalm 148:5

“But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water.” 2 Peter 3:5

So when I read God’s Word I visualize Him speaking and commanding everything He created into existence. The words leave His mouth and travel out from Him … expanding into the vastness of His creation forming all that exists just as He commanded. So, yes, I believe in the Big Bang Theory … as I have described it. And I believe that God is still creating so it makes sense that His creation is expanding. There is much we don’t know about God and all that He has done and is doing. His Word tells us this … now we see as thru a darkened glass, but eventually we will see and understand all (my paraphrase). (see 1 Corinthians 13:12) God has only revealed certain things to us. He has told us all we need to know for now. Most of us know and understand very little of what He has already told us. This is tragic as He will hold us accountable. I am reminded of the billboard message …
