To a great degree we are what we think about ourselves and we limit what we accomplish in life including what we do in service to God in obedience to Him. Today in church our pastor was sharing about the story of the Lord dealing with Gideon (Judges chapter 6). More than one person told about in the holy scriptures struggled with low self esteem and incorrect thinking about themselves. Sadly, most of us tend to think less of ourselves than God does. That being said it is important that we don’t think more of ourselves than we should as pride enters in. “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” (1 Peter 5:5, James 4:6) We need to think of ourselves according to what God says about us … no more, no less.

Anyway, during our church service today in the middle of the message the pastor showed this video to us. It brings home this point of how we tend to see ourselves vs. how others see us. It can be quite a contrast.

This is a Dove television commercial. Some call it “You are more beautiful than you think” as this is shared toward the end of the video.

The video description reads: “Women are their own worst beauty critics. Only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful. At Dove, we are committed to creating a world where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety. So, we decided to conduct a compelling social experiment that explores how women view their own beauty in contrast to what others see.”

After viewing this and thinking about the subject I decided to share it here. There is a life lesson of sorts here which we all need to take seriously. God truly loves us and has great plans for our lives. We need to seek Him while He may be found.
